Network Wiring
Basics

Type 1 Demonstration

Needed Tools:

Wire cutters, electrical tape, channel locks, and a knife of some sort.

Cut away about 2 inches of shielding from the STP cable.

Slip the Grounding Ring over the cable grounding wire. Pull back the grounding wire snuggly over the Grounding Ring.

Tape the grounding wire back as illustrated. Leave very little slack between the Grounding Ring and the tape. DO NOT tape over the Grounding Ring. Leave about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch space between the Grounding Ring and the taped segment. DO NOT use several wrappings of tape especially around the Grounding Ring.

Unwrap the pairs and cut away the foil insulators.

Trim the wires to about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in length.

Your wire should look like this

Insert the wires into the clear plastic color coded channel guides. Be sure to get all the ends pushed tight against the stopper.

Place the clear plastic color coded wire guide into the Type 1 connector bottom. Align the tabs on the sides of the clear plastic guide with the coplementry slots located in the Type 1 bottom. Using channel locks, apply firm pressure until the clear guide is firmly in place. You should feel and hear it click into place.

Align the top portion of the Type 1 and its slots with the complementry tabs in the bottom portion of the Type 1. Apply firm and even pressure on both halves until a click is felt and heard.

Attach the dust cover.
